503 B Sterile Compounding Pharmacist Contract to Hire
Under minimal supervision, provides medication therapy management services and collaborates with other health care providers to optimize therapeutic outcomes for Denver Health patients. Develops policies and procedures, clinical guidelines, or other documents required to operate the service. Plays active role in pharmacy department quality initiatives and staff education.
The Sterile Compounding Clinical Specialist will serve as the department’s primary resource for all sterile compounding within the Acute Care Pharmacy. Under the general supervision of the Acute Care Pharmacy Operations Supervisor(s), the individual in this position will be responsible for the management and supervision of the daily activities of staff assigned to sterile compounding operations and for all activities and processes designed to provide safe and accurate compounded pharmaceuticals for patient care.
This individual in this position will strive to improve the safety and efficiency of compounding workflows through observation, practice modification, and utilization of available technologies. This individual will also be responsible for the creation, implementation, and management of a comprehensive quality assurance program to ensure compliance with all state, federal, and accreditation statues and standards (including applicable USP standards).
This full time pharmacist position will be primarily day shift with some flexing of hours to assure staff competency, education, and compliance. S/he will be expected to be hired with or to achieve after hire, board certification in sterile compounding preparations by the Board of Pharmacy Specialties.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities • Broad pharmacotherapy knowledge for managing patient medication therapy needs, including current treatment guidelines and literature. • Strong communication and active listening skills. • Ability to provide input into the vision and development of clinical pharmacy services. Computers and Technology • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to work as a team member.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Strong analytical skills necessary to identify and resolve problems related to drug therapy.
Ability to instruct, direct, and evaluate employees- will be required to assume responsibility for daily operations.
Ability to work independently and with little supervision.
Prior experience and/or knowledge of process improvement practices
Thorough knowledge of the practices and principals involved in the preparation of nonhazardous and hazardous sterile compounds.
Bachelor's Degree 2. A minimum of three years of experience in a health-system practice or significant applicable specialty experience. 3. A minimum of two years sterile compounding and cleanroom operations experience preferred.
