Full-Time Pharmacy Technician (Closed Door) - Knoxville, TN

Pharmacy - Pharmacy Technician 17 days ago Lenoir City, TN

Schedule: Monday - Saturday 9:00am - 5:30pm.
(If you work a Saturday, you will have a week day off).


  • Dispenses prescription items in accordance with the State Board of Pharmacy regulations, ensuring accurate packaging for both dispensing and delivery, while meeting the pharmacy's productivity standards.
  • Labels products meticulously, incorporating necessary cautionary or auxiliary labels as required.
  • Participates in routine pharmacy inventory assessments, aiding in checking in drugs and supplies, stocking shelves, and removing expired items.
  • Prepares various medications, including emulsions, liquids, powders, and ointments, potentially involving non-sterile compounding.
  • Maintains professional and pleasant communication with both internal and external customers.
  • Handles the processing of returned medications from the facility, facilitating either credit or destruction procedures.
  • Assists in the onboarding and training of new employees.
  • Undertakes additional responsibilities, including but not limited to:
    • Working in the Controlled Drugs (Narcotics) Room.
    • Operating automated machines for drug prepacking.
    • Managing inventory functions, including monitoring pharmaceutical levels, identifying expired medications, and adhering to pharmacy standards for Days on Hand.
    • Performing data entry tasks such as inputting patient data and medication orders into the computer system for label production.
    • Mixing/packaging IV medications, ensuring sanitation of the IV room, equipment, and hood.
    • Services facility-based medication dispensing machines (e.g., RxNow).
    • Executes other assigned tasks efficiently and with attention to detail.


  • Pharmacy technician experience.
  • Long term care experience a plus.
  • Tennessee Pharmacy tech license.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in a pharmacy setting and with medical terminology.
  • Ability to operate a computer; ability to recognize and identify medications.
  • Detail oriented; goal oriented, team player, effective oral communication.
  • Long Term Care pharmacy experience preferred.
