Clinical Pharmacist Position 13-Week Assignment

Assignment Duration: 13 Weeks
We are seeking an experienced Clinical Pharmacist for an exciting 13-week contract in Homer, Alaska. This is a fantastic opportunity for a pharmacist who wants to broaden their clinical experience in a unique and remote setting while supporting a close-knit community in beautiful Homer.
Key Responsibilities:
- Medication Order Review: Verify the accuracy and appropriateness of medication orders across various departments.
- Sterile Compounding & Verification: Prepare and verify sterile medications following strict protocols.
- Pharmacy Inspections: Conduct pharmacy inspections in clinic settings.
- Multidisciplinary Pharmacy Services:
- Acute Care Pharmacy: Medication order verification, drug therapy management, lab reviews, sterile product preparation, and discharge counseling.
- Primary Care Pharmacy: Provide drug information, chart reviews, refill authorizations, anticoagulation management, and vaccinations.
- Long-Term Care (Quyanna Care Center): Chart reviews, medication consultations, and prescription preparation.
- Outpatient Pharmacy: Prescription verification, medication dispensing, patient counseling, and vaccination services.
- Village Health Services: Support village clinics with prescription entry, medication management, and clinic inspections.
- Collaboration: Work closely with physicians to optimize drug therapy and enhance patient outcomes.
- Formulary Management: Participate in formulary reviews, monitor drug use, and ensure cost-effective medication therapy.
- Education & Mentorship: Provide guidance to pharmacy students, conduct staff education sessions, and participate in P&T committees.
Required Qualifications:
- Active Pharmacist License: Any state (Alaska licensure is not required).
- Inpatient Pharmacy Experience: Required.
- Experience: 2+ years of clinical pharmacy experience or 1 year of post-graduate residency in a hospital setting.
- Clinical Pharmacy Skills: Experience in medication therapy management, clinical pharmacy services, and direct patient care.
