Interim Director of Pharmacy - Louisiana

RPh on the Go is actively seeking an experienced Director of Pharmacy to lead operations at a Critical Access Hospital in Central Louisiana. We have partnered with this hospital to provide interim leadership, ensuring seamless and compliant pharmacy services. This contract role offers housing and travel assistance if needed.

About the Facility:

This Critical Access Hospital operates with 25 staffed beds and maintains a low daily patient census (typically 2-3, with a maximum of 5). The pharmacy department plays a crucial role in supporting inpatient care, ensuring safe medication management, and maintaining compliance with all regulatory standards.

Position Overview:

As the Director of Pharmacy (PIC), you will be responsible for both leadership and staffing duties, working alongside one pharmacy technician to oversee daily operations. This is a hands-on role requiring both administrative oversight and direct involvement in pharmacy services.

• Schedule: Monday Friday, 8:00 AM 5:00 PM

• On-Call: Required

• Technology: CPSI (order entry system) and Omnicell (automation system)

• Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage all pharmacy operations within the hospital

  • Ensure regulatory compliance with state and federal guidelines

  • Perform staffing duties, including medication order entry and verification

  • Collaborate with hospital leadership and clinical teams to optimize patient care

  • Manage IV compounding processes (no chemotherapy required)

  • Support and mentor the pharmacy technician on duty

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Active and clear Louisiana Pharmacist license

• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) or Director of Pharmacy

• At least 5 years of inpatient hospital pharmacy experience

• IV compounding experience required (excluding chemotherapy)

• Strong leadership skills with the ability to work independently in a small hospital setting
