These responsibilities include dispensing additives for IV solutions, mixing IV additive products, and adhering to aseptic techniques. You also will be responsible for organizing data and appropriately labeling and filing documents. Customer service is a primary component of your day-to-day routine.
IV Pharmacy Technician Requirements
To obtain your pharmacy technician IV certification, you first need a high school diploma or GED. You also need to be licensed by the state in which you work. Many employers prefer direct experience in a pharmacy setting, as well. To receive the IV certification, you can attend training through the National Pharmacy Training Association (NPTA) or other post-secondary options. You should have strong interpersonal skills, good organizational abilities, and a willingness to work as part of a team.

IV Sterile Compounding Pharmacy Technician | Maryland
RPh on the Go is actively hiring an IV Sterile Compounding Pharmacy Technician in Maryland. This is a full-time, 13+ week contract position with the possibility of extension. The technician will assist the Registered Pharmacist in preparing sterile compounded medications and performing various tasks to support pharmacy operations.
Position Details:
Location: Maryland
Schedule: Day Shift, Monday Friday with rotating weekends based on business needs
Term: ASAP, 13+ weeks contract
Key Responsibilities:
Clean and maintain the Sterile Compounding room per USP 797 guidelines
Fill prescriptions and prepare Sterile Compounding medications under pharmacist supervision
Handle Long-Term Care knowledge and orders
Compound medications in a Class 100 clean room
Perform data entry and assist with facility calls
Maintain and account for equipment
Stock IV department areas and assist with safety checks
Replenish Emergency Drug Kits for Long-Term Care
Adhere to HIPAA regulations and promptly communicate any concerns
Follow safety, attendance, and dress code policies
May require overtime, holidays, and weekends
Perform other assigned duties as needed
Requirements:
Active Maryland Pharmacy Technician license required
Minimum of 2+ years of IV Sterile Compounding experience
Recent pharmacy experience required
