To qualify for a job as a pharmacist, you must have a bachelor’s degree in a related field and a Doctor of Pharmacy degree. Also, pharmacists must have proper licensing.

Pharmacist Job Description

As a pharmacist, you prepare and review the accuracy of prescriptions for your patients, ensuring they meet physician orders and are compatible with other patient therapies. You also compound, package and label medications, as well as provide pharmacological counseling, answer questions and advise patients.

From an operational perspective, you may be responsible for supervising the work of your support staff, including managing technician workflow, and verifying medication preparation and labeling. Additionally, you may encourage the ongoing development of your staff’s pharmacological knowledge by participating and encouraging their participation in clinical programs and training.

You must ensure your pharmacy remains compliant with state and federal drug laws as regulated by the state board of pharmacy, the drug enforcement administration, and the food and drug administration. To this end, you must ensure your registration is current, understand the existing and new legislation and advise management on needed actions.

Additionally, you are responsible for overseeing a safe and clean work environment, maintaining controlled substance records, adhering to infection-control protocols, and removing expired and damaged pharmaceuticals from the inventory.

Pharmacist Job Requirements

To secure a pharmacist job, you must have:

  • A graduate degree from an accredited pharmacy college recognized by the American Council of Pharmaceutical Education (ACPE)
  • Completed an emergency contraception training course approved by the American Council of Pharmaceutical Education (ACPE), curriculum-based programs from an ACPE-accredited college of pharmacy, applicable state or local health department programs, or programs recognized by the board of pharmacy
  • A valid state pharmacist license (or must meet education requirement(s) for state licensure)
  • A current BLS for Healthcare Provider CPR or CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer certification

Remote Pharmacist - 6-month Contract- Tampa, FL

Our client is seeking a pharmacist for a remote work from home position.
This is a 6 month contract.

Hours: Monday-Friday 8am-5pm

The Job:
The Clinical Pharmacist will work to support clinical initiatives and Medicare Part D regulatory requirements. You will solve unique medication-related issues for Clover members as a crucial part of our multidisciplinary clinical team. You will address a range of clinical needs from educating members on the importance of adherence to completing intensive medication management reviews and addressing barriers to drug therapy. This role also includes performing daily oversight activities of the Pharmacy Benefits Manager s (PBM) delegated functions.

Job Description:

  • Provide clinical support to members and providers with the goal of improving medication management and health outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive documentation of clinical interventions, patient interactions, and medication recommendations.
  • Identify opportunities for cost effective or lower risk medication treatment plans.
  • Support activities related to Pharmacy Benefits Manager oversight and CMS regulatory requirements in Part D benefit administration to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Support quality measures in current case management or other clinical programs
  • Identify and support development of process enhancements, including activities that improve member experience and medication adherence.
  • Contribute to projects aimed at improving Medicare Part C & D Stars Rating quality initiatives, HEDIS, CAHPS, and other quality metrics.
  • Analyze Part D/pharmacy data and metrics to evaluate effectiveness and outcomes, reports to managers and other internal or external stakeholders.
  • Properly administer Clover Health s Drug Formulary and support the Medication Therapy Management Program (MTMP).
  • Participate in cross-functional team meetings and serve as pharmacy/Part D subject matter expert.
  • Serve as resource to pharmacy program specialists and associate team members.
  • Collaborate with team leadership on ensuring appropriate allocation of team resources across day-to-day activities, as well as key project work that drives clear business value.
  • Continuously look for improvements and ways to add value within team.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Desired Skills, Experience, and Education:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited school of pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm-D) from an accredited school of pharmacy required.
  • Active unrestricted state license in good standing with state board of pharmacy.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Medicare Part-D benefit regulations for formulary administration and Stars Ratings .
  • 2+ years experience in managed care, retail, or mail-order pharmacy.
  • Experience in geriatric and long-term care preferred.
  • Superb clinical judgment.
  • Accurate documentation.
  • Expert in customer service and communication.
  • Drives for results, resourceful, manages execution and detail oriented.
  • Strong work ethic.
  • Experience working remotely.

Pay rate $45-55 per hour depending on experience
