Position Title: Hospital Pharmacy Technician
Location: Chicago, Illinois
Shift: Monday Friday, 8:30am 4:30pm or 10:00am 6:00pm

Position Overview:
RPh on the go is seeking an experienced Hospital Pharmacy Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will have direct experience in an inpatient setting, supporting pharmacists in the preparation, distribution, and management of medications for hospitalized patients. This role requires a thorough understanding of hospital pharmacy operations, sterile compounding, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:
Medication Preparation & Dispensing: Assist in the preparation, packaging, and dispensing of medications, including oral, injectable, and IV medications, under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
Sterile Compounding: Accurately prepare sterile IV admixtures, including chemotherapy and other high-risk medications, in accordance with hospital and USP guidelines.
Inpatient Order Processing: Process inpatient medication orders, ensuring timely and accurate entry into the hospital's pharmacy information system and delivery to patient care units.
Automated Dispensing & Inventory Management: Restock and maintain automated dispensing machines (e.g., Pyxis, Omnicell), ensuring appropriate inventory levels, tracking expired medications, and reconciling discrepancies.
Collaboration with Healthcare Teams: Work closely with pharmacists, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient care, including medication reconciliation and discharge planning.
Regulatory Compliance: Maintain compliance with hospital, state, and federal regulations, including those from the Illinois Board of Pharmacy, Joint Commission, and USP standards.
Medication Delivery: Safely and efficiently transport medications to designated units throughout the hospital, ensuring timely and accurate delivery to meet patient needs.

Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or completion of a pharmacy technician training program preferred.
Certification: Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) required; must hold an active Pharmacy Technician license in the State of Illinois.
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of inpatient hospital pharmacy experience is required. Knowledge of sterile compounding and IV preparation is essential.
Skills: Strong understanding of inpatient pharmacy workflows, hospital medication systems, and EMR systems. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and handle medications in sterile environments.
