Job Title: Pharmacy Technician Full-Time (8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, No Weekends)

Contract Duration: 13+ Weeks, Temp-to-Perm Opportunity


Job Description:

We are looking for a skilled Pharmacy Technician to join our team in Alexandria, VA. This position involves a variety of responsibilities, including processing prescriptions for both acute and chronic conditions, assisting with data entry, billing, and handling pharmacy intake duties. While sterile compounding is not the main focus of this role, experience in sterile compounding is required for supporting the team during high-volume periods or staffing shortages.


Work Schedule:

  • Monday through Friday: 8:00 AM 5:00 PM
  • Weekends: Closed
  • Contract Term: 13+ Weeks with the possibility of direct hire based on performance

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prescription Filling: Accurately pack and fill prescriptions for both acute and chronic illnesses.
  • Data Entry & Billing: Enter prescription information and assist with billing processes.
  • Patient Intake: Manage pharmacy intake, ensuring prescriptions and orders are processed smoothly.
  • Sterile Compounding Support: While this is not a core responsibility, assist with sterile compounding when necessary due to staffing shortages or increased demand.

Required Qualifications:

  • Licensing: Active and unrestricted Virginia Pharmacy Technician License
  • Certification: Must hold PTCB certification (a requirement in Virginia)
  • Knowledge: Understanding of USP-797 sterile compounding standards
  • Experience:
  • 1-2 years of experience with sterile compounding or infusion therapy
  • Previous experience in a specialty or home infusion pharmacy setting is preferred
