Job Description: Inpatient Pharmacy Technician

Location: Inpatient Hospital
Shift: Rotating First & Second Shifts (7:00 AM - 3:30 PM; 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM), Rotating Weekends
Computer System: Cerner

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Pharmacy Technician to join our inpatient pharmacy team. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in an inpatient hospital setting and familiarity with Cerner, although Cerner experience is not mandatory.

You will be responsible for assisting pharmacists in the preparation and dispensing of medications, managing medication inventory, and ensuring the safe and effective delivery of pharmaceutical care.

Key Responsibilities:

• Accurately prepare and dispense medications to hospital patients under the supervision of licensed pharmacists.
• Review medication orders for completeness, accuracy, and proper dosing.
• Maintain and update patient medication profiles.
• Assist in medication inventory management, including ordering, stocking, and ensuring medication storage complies with safety standards.
• Operate pharmacy equipment (e.g., automated dispensing machines, compounding equipment).
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, state and federal regulations, and safety guidelines.
• Provide support in the use of Cerner for entering, retrieving, and tracking medication orders.
• Collaborate with healthcare teams to optimize patient medication therapy outcomes.

Required Qualifications:

• Illinois Pharmacy Technician License (current and in good standing).
• Experience working in an inpatient pharmacy setting.
• Ability to work rotating shifts, including weekends.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
