Sterile Compounding Pharmacy Technician Job - Greenbriar, Virginia
RPh on the Go is seeking a highly motivated Sterile Compounding Pharmacy Technician for a full time job in Greenbriar, Virginia.
The ideal candidate will have experience in sterile compounding and be able to work in a fast-paced environment while ensuring accuracy and quality control.
The Sterile Compounding Pharmacy Technician will be responsible for preparing and dispensing sterile medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
Duties will include but not be limited to:
  • Following established procedures for sterile compounding of medications, including accurate measuring and mixing of ingredients, and maintaining a sterile environment.
  • Preparing medication orders in accordance with prescriptions or verbal orders from healthcare providers.
  • Checking medication orders for accuracy and completeness, and resolving any discrepancies or issues.
  • Compounding medications using various techniques, such as aseptic technique, laminar airflow hoods, and sterile filtration.
  • Cleaning and maintaining compounding equipment and work areas, and ensuring that they meet regulatory requirements.
  • Adhering to all pharmacy policies and procedures, as well as state and federal regulations related to sterile compounding.
  • Communicating effectively with pharmacists, nurses, and other healthcare providers to ensure accurate and timely dispensing of medications.
  • Maintaining accurate records of medications prepared and dispensed, as well as inventory of supplies and equipment.
Qualifications:
  • Virginia pharmacy technician license.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; pharmacy technician certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in sterile compounding, preferably in a hospital or long-term care setting.
  • Knowledge of sterile compounding procedures, including aseptic technique, laminar airflow hoods, and sterile filtration.
  • Familiarity with compounding equipment, such as IV pumps, syringe pumps, and balance scales.
  • Understanding of basic pharmacology, medication dosage calculations, and medical terminology.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures accurately.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods of time.
