Clinical Pharmacist Opportunity 13-Week Assignment
Location: Nome, AK
Start Date: Mid-December
Assignment Duration: 13 Weeks
We are currently seeking an experienced Clinical Pharmacist for a 13-week assignment at a healthcare facility in Nome, Alaska. This is an exciting opportunity for a pharmacist looking to expand their experience in a multifaceted healthcare environment while serving a unique community.
Responsibilities:
- Medication Order Verification: Ensure the accuracy and appropriateness of medication orders across departments.
- Sterile Compounding & Verification: Prepare and verify sterile medications following strict hospital protocols.
- Clinic Inspections: Conduct pharmacy inspections across various clinic settings in the hospital.
- Pharmacy Services Across Multiple Departments:
- Acute Care Pharmacy: Order verification, monitoring drug therapy, reviewing patient labs, compounding sterile products, and providing discharge counseling.
- Primary Care Pharmacy: Drug information for healthcare providers, proactive chart reviews, refill authorization, anticoagulation services, and vaccinations.
- Quyanna Care Center (Long-Term Care): Chart reviews, medication consultations, and preparation of prescriptions.
- Outpatient Pharmacy: Prescription verification, filling, patient counseling, and vaccinations.
- Village Health Services: Support village clinics with prescription entry, Pickpoint optimization, and clinic inspections.
- Collaboration: Work alongside physicians to optimize drug therapy, and monitor patient outcomes.
- Formulary Management: Contribute to formulary reviews, monitor drug usage, and ensure cost-effective medication therapies.
- Education & Preceptorship: Mentor pharmacy students, lead staff education, and participate in P&T committees.
Qualifications:
- Active Pharmacist License (any state, Alaska licensure is not required for this position)
- Inpatient Pharmacy Experience (required)
- 2+ years of experience preferred, or 1 year of post-graduate residency experience in a hospital setting
- Experience with clinical pharmacy services, medication therapy management, and direct patient care
