Assignment Details:

• Location: Wrangell, AK
• Duration: 13 weeks (Immediate start)
• Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM 5:30 PM (No weekends)
• Lunch: 1:00 PM 2:00 PM
• Pharmacy Software: Liberty RXQ

Pharmacy Information:

• Scripts Processed Daily: 100-150
• Team Composition: 1 pharmacist, 2 full-time technicians, plus 1 PRN technician on call.
• Community: Small-town environment with amenities within walking distance; milder winter conditions than other parts of Alaska.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Prescription Review:

• Assess prescriptions for legality, appropriateness, and potential interactions or allergies.
• Document all clinical activities and consult with prescribers as necessary.

2. Order Verification:

• Oversee the accurate and timely processing of prescription orders, ensuring proper record-keeping.

3. Patient Consultation:

• Educate patients on their medications, covering usage, expected outcomes, and clarifying any questions.

4. Medication Management:

• Perform chart reviews for refills and medication therapy management; liaise with providers for recommendations.

5. Team Leadership:

• Supervise pharmacy technicians, mentoring students and support staff in their roles.

6. Clinical Involvement:

• Participate in quality control initiatives and engage in departmental meetings and committees.

7. Health Promotion:

• Drive initiatives focused on drug use safety and preventive therapy.

Qualifications:

• Licensure: Must hold an active pharmacist license in any state.
• Experience: At least 2 years of outpatient or chain retail pharmacy experience.
