We are seeking a skilled Travel Pharmacist for a fulfilling assignment in Wrangell, Alaska! This role involves supporting both outpatient and inpatient pharmacy services in a beautiful, remote Alaskan community. No Alaska license is required.


Term of assignment: May - August 13 Weeks
Shifts: Monday - Friday (No Weekends)
Hours: 8:30 AM 5:30 PM (Lunch from 1:00 PM 2:00 PM)
Pharmacy Software: Liberty RXQ


Environment: The pharmacy processes anywhere from 100-150 scripts per day. The staff includes 1 other pharmacist, 2 full-time technicians, and 1 PRN technician available as needed. Wrangell is a small town where everything is within walking distance. May - August in Wrangell offers beautiful weather, mostly in the 70s!


Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive pharmaceutical care in outpatient and inpatient settings.

  • Manage medication orders, verification, and patient counseling.

  • Review all prescriptions for appropriateness of therapy, legality, completeness, contraindications, interactions, allergies, and adverse drug reactions.

  • Communicate with prescribers to resolve medication concerns and document all clinical activities.

  • Verify finished prescription orders accurately while maintaining required record-keeping.

  • Advise patients on medication usage, including indications, drug names, strengths, and expected changes.

  • Perform chart reviews for prescription refills and medication therapy management.

  • Provide drug information, drug therapy consultations, and staff education.

  • Direct pharmacy support personnel and serve as a role model for pharmacy students and technicians.

  • Participate in clinical and administrative activities, quality control, and improvement initiatives.

  • Provide health promotion and disease prevention activities related to drug use and preventative drug therapy.


Requirements:

  • Active Pharmacist license in any U.S. state (Alaska license not required).

  • Minimum 2 years of outpatient or chain retail experience.

  • Strong clinical knowledge and commitment to quality patient care.

  • Flexibility and adaptability to thrive in a travel assignment.
