Gold Standard/Elsevier has announced that it will continue to publish drug price databases that include the average wholesale price (AWP) in addition to the calculated price types that include various markup percentages. The announcement comes as several other drug price databases have announced their intention to withdraw the AWP from their program price lists.

The programs made by Gold Standard/Eliseveir include the Alchemy drug database and the ProspectoRX pricing tool. The company strives for accuracy by setting frequent updates to each program and providing multiple drug price scales. Drug companies report prices throughout the day and the systems are updated as the prices are provided.

The earliest other drug databases will remove the AWP will be 2011 but the company is hoping to attract customers by reaffirming their commitment to the multi-level pricing.
