Home Infusion Clinical Pharmacist in Boston, MA
A healthcare organization specializing in home infusion services is seeking a Staff Pharmacist to provide expert clinical pharmacy support in a PRN capacity. This role focuses on delivering safe and effective IV and infusion therapies for patients with acute and chronic medical conditions. The position is based on-site in Cambridge, MA, with flexible PRN scheduling to accommodate multiple coverage dates.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate and process physician orders while verifying insurance benefits to ensure accurate service delivery
- Perform sterile compounding and maintain cleanroom standards in compliance with USP 797 regulations
- Safely dispense medications and infusion-related supplies to support patient treatment plans
- Maintain detailed and compliant patient and pharmacy records per federal and state requirements
- Collaborate effectively with patients, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to optimize care
- Supervise pharmacy technicians and support staff to promote efficient pharmacy operations
- Manage assigned patient caseloads and provide coverage for other pharmacists as necessary
Qualifications and Experience:
- Active Massachusetts Pharmacist License in good standing
- Minimum of 1 year pharmacy experience, with 2+ years preferred in clinical pharmacy roles
- Preferred experience in infusion therapy and sterile compounding
- Proficient knowledge of USP 797 sterile compounding standards
- Strong communication skills and the ability to multitask and manage time effectively
- Critical-thinking capabilities essential to managing patient care and pharmacy operations
Schedule:
- Initial 4-8 days of training on the EMR system
- Ongoing PRN shifts approximately 2 days per month with flexible scheduling
- Coverage needed for July 6-10 and July 13-17, shifts from 9am-5pm, on site
