Per Diem Clinical Pharmacist - Highland, CA
An opportunity is available for an experienced pharmacist to provide essential clinical pharmacy coverage at a well-respected inpatient hospital in a scenic Southern California community. This per diem position requires dedicated coverage for a two-week period in August 2026, ideal for pharmacists with inpatient and compounding experience who can confidently manage on-call responsibilities.
Location: Highland, CA
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM 5:00 PM (Full-time hours during coverage period)
- On-call weekends and after-hours availability (calls are infrequent but must be accommodated)
Key Responsibilities:
- Verify and review medication orders for accuracy, appropriateness, and patient safety measures
- Prepare sterile compounded medications, including IV admixtures and unit dose medications (no chemotherapy or hazardous drugs at this site)
- Respond promptly to any emergency room codes as needed
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, state and federal regulations, and sterile compounding standards
- Monitor and optimize patients medication therapy through clinical recommendations to healthcare providers
- Restock Pyxis machines at two family health centers within the community, supporting broader hospital pharmacy operations
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Active and clear California Pharmacist License is required
- Minimum of 2 years of inpatient pharmacy experience
- Proficiency with software systems such as CSPI, Evident, and Pyxis is preferred; training available if needed
- Experience functioning as the sole clinical pharmacist preferred
- Reliable and available for all on-call hours
