Inpatient Director of Pharmacy - Chesterfield, Missouri

A healthcare facility specializing in behavioral health is seeking a Director of Pharmacy to lead the pharmacy setup and operations for a new inpatient unit. This contract position offers a daytime schedule, an opportunity to influence pharmacy services in a patient-centered environment, and the potential for extension beyond the initial 8-week term.

Location: Chesterfield, MO
Schedule:

• Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM
• On-call weekends (rotating)
• Additional support needed intermittently during the pharmacy setup phase

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate effectively with executive leadership and area Directors of Pharmacy to ensure smooth pharmacy operations and alignment with organizational goals
• Lead the establishment of the pharmacy, including procuring, packaging medications, and stocking automated dispensing systems (Pyxis)
• Verify medication orders once patients are admitted onsite
• Manage Pyxis automation and maintain inventory control
• Provide on-call pharmacy management support during weekends
• No sterile compounding duties involved

Required Qualifications:

• Experience as a pharmacy manager, particularly within inpatient behavioral health settings
• Proficiency with Pyxis automated dispensing systems
• Valid Missouri pharmacy license
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, startup pharmacy environment
• Willingness to undergo training for order entry using HCS system
