Director of Pharmacy | Evanston, Illinois
This leadership role provides a unique opportunity to direct pharmacy services within a historic, not-for-profit acute care hospital serving an underserved Chicago community since 1912. As Director of Pharmacy, you will oversee the clinical, operational, administrative, staffing, and financial management of the pharmacy department, guiding a dedicated team of 20 pharmacists and support staff.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage pharmacy operations ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with hospital administration and clinical leadership to align pharmacy services with organizational goals.
- Oversee staffing, scheduling, budgeting, and performance management of a multi-level pharmacy team.
- Ensure Joint Commission and CMS compliance across all pharmacy services.
- Drive initiatives that enhance patient care and community health outcomes.
Qualifications:
- Active Illinois Pharmacist License in good standing (non-negotiable).
- Minimum of three years experience as Director of Pharmacy in an acute care inpatient hospital.
- At least three years acute care hospital pharmacy experience.
- PharmD strongly preferred.
- Board Certification and hospital pharmacy residency completion are strong pluses.
- Proven ability to manage diverse teams including full-time, part-time, and PRN staff.
- Experience in community or safety net hospital settings is an advantage.
- Strong leadership skills with a commitment to serving underserved patient populations.
Location: Chicagos South Side flexible to relocate if not currently local.
Pharmacy Operating Hours:
- Monday to Friday: 7:00 AM 10:00 PM
- Saturday & Sunday: 7:00 AM 8:00 PM
This direct hire position offers a competitive salary range between $165,000 and $185,000 annually, plus annual bonus eligibility and relocation considerations.
