Director of Pharmacy | Gillespie, Illinois

An interim leadership opportunity is available for a Director of Pharmacy to oversee pharmacy operations in a 25-bed healthcare facility. This contract role is for approximately six weeks and offers a valuable chance to guide a smaller hospital pharmacy through operational and compliance initiatives.

Work Schedule:

• Monday to Friday: 7:30 AM 4:00 PM or 8:00 AM 4:30 PM
• Weekend hours: 8:00 AM 4:30 PM (typically covered by PRN staff)

Facility Overview:

• Licensed Beds: 25
• Average Daily Census: 8 (includes Inpatient, Observation, Swing Bed patients, and outpatients)
• Automation: Sentri7 pharmacy automation system
• Technology: Pyxis and sterile compounding equipment

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide leadership and oversight for pharmacy operations, including sterile compounding and regulatory compliance
• Partner with the Infection Prevention Specialist to lead the Antimicrobial Stewardship Program and facilitate the Infection Prevention Committee
• Lead the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee
• Manage onboarding and training for PRN pharmacists and technicians, assessing delegation of roles
• Support the Oracle CPOE system conversion process
• Collaborate with compliance teams to implement quality and regulatory action plans

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

• Director-level pharmacy leadership experience is required
• Knowledge or experience with CPS (Computerized Provider Order Entry) strongly preferred
• Familiarity with hospital pharmacy operations, sterile compounding, Pyxis, and Sentri7 technology preferred
• Ability to manage staff in various roles and guide onboarding/training processes
