Position Overview
RPh on the Go is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Staff Pharmacist to join a Long-Term Care (LTC) mail order pharmacy on a 13-week contract. This role requires flexibility in scheduling, a strong commitment to patient safety, and the ability to collaborate effectively with healthcare professionals in a fast-paced environment.
Schedule:
- Monday Friday: Rotating shifts
- 9:30 AM 6:00 PM
- 10:00 AM 6:30 PM
- 11:00 AM 8:30 PM
- (Schedule will vary weekly)
- Saturday & Sunday: 10:00 AM 6:30 PM
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately accept, review, and dispense prescription medications in compliance with all regulatory standards.
- Evaluate and monitor patient medication compliance, identifying potential overuse or misuse patterns.
- Ensure medication therapies are appropriate, safe, and effective for patients.
- Maintain accurate, confidential patient records and oversee proper pharmacy documentation and file management.
- Provide patient counseling on prescription and over-the-counter medications, including usage, dosage, side effects, and interactions.
- Offer clinical consultations on medication therapy, storage, and administration.
- Deliver patient services such as:
- Smoking cessation guidance
- Blood pressure monitoring
- Cholesterol management education
- Educate patients on the proper use of medical devices (e.g., blood pressure monitors, glucose meters).
- Perform compounding of medications, including preparation of sterile solutions following established protocols.
- Supervise and mentor pharmacy staff, including technicians and clerks.
- Maintain and manage pharmaceutical inventory and medical supplies.
- Identify drug-related issues and collaborate with physicians, nurses, and healthcare teams to resolve concerns and optimize therapy.
- Work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary healthcare environment.
Required Qualifications:
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree.
- Active and unrestricted Minnesota Pharmacist License.
- Strong knowledge of pharmacy regulations, compliance standards, and patient care practices.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in Long-Term Care (LTC) pharmacy settings.
- IV compounding experience (preferred but not required).
