This role oversees pharmacy operations in an inpatient hospital environment across two locations, with responsibility for managing a team of 32 direct reports. The position works closely with administration and medical staff to maintain high standards in patient care, budgeting, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance. Utilizing Meditech for order entry and Pyxis automation, the Director leads strategic planning, staffing, and educational initiatives, ensuring continuous performance improvement and regulatory adherence.

Location: Norwalk, Ohio
Schedule: Weekdays with on-call possibility
Duration: 13-week contract with strong intent for direct hire

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain collaborative relationships with administration, department heads, medical staff, and pharmacy teams across two hospital locations
  • Manage budgeting, financial reporting, and resource allocation including capital expenditures and staffing needs
  • Lead recruitment, evaluation, counseling, and disciplinary processes for pharmacy personnel
  • Oversee quality assurance programs and participate in performance improvement activities
  • Represent the department in purchasing contracts and health system committees, including Pharmacy & Therapeutics
  • Direct education programs for pharmacy residents, students, interns, and health care team members
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory agencies such as FDA, DEA, and Ohio State Board of Pharmacy
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to anticipate and navigate healthcare industry changes

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in Pharmacy or PharmD; M.S. or MBA preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of progressive managerial experience in a medical center pharmacy setting
  • Valid Ohio Pharmacy License and State of Ohio motor vehicle operators license
  • Ability to communicate effectively, perform complex financial and arithmetic operations
  • Commitment to workplace safety, regulatory compliance, and organizational standards
