Hospital Director of Pharmacy in Pittsburgh, PA
Lead the pharmacy operations of a specialized critical illness recovery hospital dedicated to delivering exceptional inpatient post-ICU care for chronically and critically ill patients requiring extended healing and recovery. As the Director of Pharmacy, you will oversee all clinical, operational, and administrative aspects of the hospital pharmacy, fostering collaboration with the CEO and multidisciplinary clinical teams to ensure the highest standard of pharmaceutical care.

Key Responsibilities:
- Direct clinical, staffing, financial, and operational pharmacy management at the hospital.
- Ensure accurate preparation and dispensing of all medications and chemicals.
- Maintain compliance with The Joint Commission, CMS, and other regulatory standards.
- Manage the Adverse Drug Reaction Program effectively.
- Develop and oversee new employee training and ongoing education programs.
- Participate actively in quality assurance initiatives focusing on drug utilization and efficacy.
- Monitor and evaluate patient drug therapy outcomes.
- Create at least one clinical program annually (e.g., Pharmacokinetic Dosing Service, Pain Management, Patient Counseling).
- Promote continuous quality improvement and foster a patient-centered care environment.
- Provide education and counseling to patients and their families.
Qualifications:
- Completion of all educational requirements for state licensure in pharmacy.
- Minimum of 3 years of hospital pharmacy experience within the last 5 years.
- Active and valid pharmacy license in the state of practice.
- BLS certification if required by the state.
- Preferred: PharmD or BS Pharm with advanced degree or completion of a hospital pharmacy residency.
- At least 1 year in a managerial role preferred.
- Board Certification and/or residency completion is advantageous.
