Hospital Director of Pharmacy - Plainfield, Illinois
This opportunity is for a Director of Pharmacy serving as Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) at a behavioral health hospital. The role is a 13-week contract position based in Plainfield, IL, with responsibilities centered on pharmacy leadership and operations in a psychiatric care environment.
The work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, with on-call duties seven days a week. The pharmacy team includes one part-time pharmacist and one pharmacy technician who supports restocking the Omnicell automation system. Experience with Omnicell automation and a psychiatric (psych) specialty focus are preferred. There is no sterile compounding involved in this position.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing staffing and scheduling for the pharmacy team
- Leading and participating in meetings related to pharmacy services
- Maintaining overall pharmacy operations and ensuring regulatory compliance
- Providing clear and consistent communication through emails and monthly one-on-one meetings with the account manager
- Applying basic financial knowledge to support pharmacy management tasks
To qualify for this role, candidates must have:
- Pharmacy management experience, preferably within hospital settings
- Current Illinois pharmacy license
- Strong communication skills and the ability to maintain effective collaboration with staff and leadership
