Hospital Inpatient Director of Pharmacy - Port Clinton, OH
This leadership opportunity is ideal for an experienced pharmacy professional ready to direct pharmacy operations within a dynamic inpatient hospital environment. The position offers a 13-week contract with strong intent for direct hire, focusing on day shifts with potential on-call responsibilities. Based in Port Clinton, OH, this role oversees pharmacy services at two hospital locations, managing a team of 32 direct reports.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain collaborative relationships with organization leadership, department heads, medical staff, and administration.
- Oversee budgeting, capital expenditure forecasting, revenue monitoring, and staffing patterns for departmental approval.
- Lead quality assurance initiatives, ensuring continuous process improvement and regulatory compliance.
- Manage recruitment, evaluation, counseling, and disciplinary processes for pharmacy personnel.
- Strategically plan departmental growth and direction in alignment with healthcare system goals.
- Represent the department in purchasing contracts, committee participation, and professional organizations.
- Facilitate education programs for pharmacy residents, students, interns, and allied health members.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory inspections and accreditation standards.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to adapt pharmacy operations amid industry changes.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelors degree in Pharmacy or PharmD from an accredited institution; M.S. or M.B.A. preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years managerial experience within a progressive medical center pharmacy environment.
- Valid Ohio Pharmacy License and State of Ohio motor vehicle operators license, with insurability.
- Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
- Proven ability to perform complex financial and operational tasks.
- Commitment to workplace safety, compliance with OSHA, CDC standards, and departmental goals.
Technical Environment:
- Meditech order entry system.
- Pyxis automation utilized for medication management.
