Hospital Director of Pharmacy in Schenectady, NY

This leadership role is designed for a seasoned pharmacy professional to serve as the Director of Pharmacy at a 250-bed community hospital with an outpatient pharmacy setting in Amsterdam, NY. The position is a contract opportunity, ideal for a pharmacist with a strong background in hospital pharmacy leadership, ready to move swiftly into a pivotal role.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee pharmacy operations across acute care, retail pharmacy, 340B program, and support offsite locations including a cancer center and outpatient infusion program.
• Manage and lead a team of five direct reports and approximately 25 full-time employees.
• Stabilize the pharmacy department during a transition period and strengthen team culture.
• Support business performance initiatives and pharmacy operations efficiency.
• Advance medication safety and antibiotic stewardship programs.
• Maintain responsibility for the pharmacy license until a permanent director is appointed.

Qualifications / Desired Experience:

• New York State pharmacist license is required.
• Proven leadership experience in a hospital pharmacy setting.
• Strong organizational skills with a patient-centric approach.
• Ability to adapt quickly in a dynamic environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to foster trust and guide teams through change.
• Availability to start immediately.
