Inpatient Hospital Director of Pharmacy | Waukesha, Wisconsin
A 13-week contract opportunity is available for an experienced Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) in a unique acute care hospital setting. This role is based in Waukesha, WI, within a small inpatient micro hospital featuring a 7-bed emergency department and an 8-bed inpatient unit. The position requires managing the pharmacy as the sole PIC, ensuring compliance and operational excellence in a highly specialized environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all pharmacy operations, including staff pharmacist and PIC duties
- Conduct audits and maintain strict controls, especially due to historical concerns with controlled substance diversion
- Manage medication order entry through Epic and utilize Omnicell automation systems for inventory management
- Restock medications and supplies to ensure uninterrupted service
- Collaborate with hospital staff to support patient care in an acute care environment
- Maintain compliance with all regulatory and licensing requirements
Qualifications and Experience:
- Proven pharmacy management experience, including leadership in an inpatient hospital setting
- Experience working in an acute care hospital pharmacy, preferably with small or specialized units
- Current Wisconsin pharmacy license is mandatory
- Expertise in medication safety, regulatory audits, and controlled substance management strongly preferred
Schedule:
- Monday through Friday, daytime shifts
- 40 hours per week
