Long Term Care Mail Order Pharmacist - Cheney, WA
A pharmacist role is available for an 8-week contract in Cheney, WA, working in a long-term care and mail order pharmacy environment. This position operates Monday through Friday, from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM, providing an excellent opportunity for those with experience in specialty pharmacy services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately accept and dispense prescription medications.
- Monitor patient medication adherence and identify over-usage issues.
- Ensure compliance with legal regulations regarding medication supplies.
- Confirm that prescribed medicines are appropriate for patients.
- Maintain confidential and accurate patient records and pharmacy files.
- Advise patients on medication usage, potential side effects, and answer related inquiries.
- Provide consultations on prescription and over-the-counter medications, including dosage and drug interactions.
- Deliver patient services such as smoking cessation support, blood pressure monitoring, and cholesterol management.
- Educate patients on the proper use and care of medical devices like glucose meters and blood pressure monitors.
- Compound medications, preparing sterile solutions according to established protocols.
- Supervise pharmacy staff including technicians and clerks.
- Manage pharmaceutical and medical supply inventory efficiently.
- Identify and communicate drug-related problems to physicians and healthcare practitioners.
Qualifications:
- Valid Washington State Pharmacist license.
- Experience in long-term care, mail order, or retail pharmacy settings.
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to supervise staff and manage pharmacy workflow effectively.
