Inpatient Pharmacist - Chesapeake, VA

A 13-week contract opportunity is available for an experienced inpatient pharmacist in Chesapeake, VA. This role requires a Virginia pharmacist license at the time of application, with priority given to candidates holding inpatient pharmacy experience and EPIC electronic medical record proficiency.

Work Schedule:

• Day shifts: 06301500, 07301600, 09001730, 10001830
• Evening shifts: 13002130, 14302300
• Overnight shifts: 19300730, 20300730

Key Responsibilities:

• Accurately verify and enter medication orders for hospitalized patients
• Manage IV medication preparation, pain control analgesia, and antibiotic therapy
• Monitor for drug interactions and ensure appropriate dosing (including renal dosing)
• Utilize pharmacokinetic dosing principles
• Collaborate with healthcare teams to optimize patient medication regimens
• Support chemotherapy medication management and anticoagulation therapy (preferred)

Qualifications:

• Virginia pharmacist license required at the time of application (firm)
• Minimum of 1 year inpatient pharmacy experience; hospital inpatient travel experience preferred
• Strong knowledge of IV medications, order verification, and pain management protocols
• Experience with EPIC electronic medical records (firm requirement)
• Preferred knowledge areas: chemotherapy, anticoagulants, pharmacokinetic and renal dosing
