Pharmacist in Chicora, PA
This position offers an opportunity for a skilled pharmacist to provide essential pharmaceutical services in a long-term care setting. The role involves interacting with healthcare professionals and ensuring the accuracy and safety of medication dispensing within skilled nursing facilities, personal care facilities, and hospice care.
Location: Chicora, PA
Schedule: 24 hours per week (Monday through Friday, 8am 6pm)
Type: Contract, long-term with a 1-month initial assignment and possible extension
Responsibilities:
- Verify medication orders entered by data entry technicians for multiple care settings including skilled nursing, personal care, and hospice
- Check blister-packed medications, sterile and non-sterile drugs for accuracy and quality
- Respond to phone inquiries from nursing facilities, hospice nurses, and physicians, addressing clinical questions promptly
- Count and document controlled substances in the perpetual inventory per regulatory standards
- Review and maintain emergency medication boxes
- Use operating systems such as QS1, Docutrack, and PCC to manage pharmacy tasks efficiently
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Pharmacy required
- Licensed and registered pharmacist in Pennsylvania, in good standing
- Minimum of 1 year pharmacist experience; long-term care experience preferred
- Ability to perform duties requiring sitting, standing, fine motor skills, and visual acuity
- Capable of lifting up to 30 pounds as needed
