Retail Pharmacist | Elyria, Ohio

This role offers the opportunity to serve a specialty retail pharmacy that focuses on complex patients managing multiple medications daily. As a pharmacist, you will provide expert medication guidance and empathetic consultation to patients often dealing with advanced chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, and multiple sclerosis. Your strong communication skills and deep knowledge of the most commonly dispensed retail medications will be vital in ensuring patients receive optimal care and support.

Location: Elyria, OH
Job Type: Contract (approximately 4-6 weeks starting 11/19, or until a long-term solution is implemented)
Shift: Monday Friday, 8:30 AM 5:00 PM

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide accurate dispensing and counseling for patients taking complex medication regimens (8-15 medications daily)
• Deliver compassionate patient consultations tailored to Medicare/Medicaid and low-income populations, many with low health literacy
• Utilize specialized software (Pioneer Rx) for prescription processing and patient management
• Collaborate with healthcare teams to optimize medication therapy for chronic disease management
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the top 200-400 retail pharmaceuticals

Desired Experience & Qualifications:

• Licensed pharmacist with strong background in retail pharmacy practice
• Specialty retail pharmacy experience highly preferred
• Exceptional patience and communication skills, especially when working with advanced chronic disease patients
• Ability to compassionately educate patients with varying literacy levels and complex medication needs
