Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) - Alachua, Florida

Serve as the Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) for a specialized infusion pharmacy supporting oncology and home infusion patients. This direct hire or contract-to-hire opportunity offers a structured Monday through Friday schedule, 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM, within a collaborative onsite team of two full-time pharmacists, two full-time pharmacy technicians, and one weekend pharmacist. You will oversee a low-volume pharmacy processing approximately 100 prescriptions daily, including 15-20 chemotherapy preparations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Interpret, verify, and process physician medication orders accurately.
• Perform and supervise sterile compounding in strict accordance with USP <797> and USP <800> guidelines.
• Conduct final verification of compounded sterile preparations to ensure patient safety.
• Review medication profiles for potential allergies, interactions, dosing accuracy, and compatibility.
• Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers.
• Lead, mentor, and supervise pharmacists, technicians, and support staff.
• Maintain aseptic technique, cleanroom standards, and environmental monitoring protocols.
• Manage pharmacy quality assurance, medication safety programs, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Oversee inventory management, including controlled substances and regulatory documentation.
• Develop and enforce pharmacy policies, procedures, and staff training programs.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, DEA, State Board of Pharmacy regulations, and company policies.
• Uphold safety regulations by consistently utilizing appropriate PPE and maintaining a safe work environment.
• Lead staff meetings and contribute to operational decision-making.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Active Florida Pharmacist license in good standing.
• 3-5 years experience in hazardous and non-hazardous sterile compounding compliant with USP, DEA, OSHA, and Board of Pharmacy regulations.
• Pharmacy management expertise with strong organizational and leadership skills.
• Recent (within 3-5 years) experience preferred in home infusion, hospital, or oncology infusion pharmacy.
• Ability to work effectively in a sterile compounding environment and communicate clearly.
