Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) | Gaithersburg, Maryland
A closed-door mail order pharmacy in Gaithersburg, MD, is seeking a multi-licensed Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) to join their strong existing team. This part-time role offers an ongoing opportunity to work Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7 AM to 3 PM, overseeing pharmacy operations in a long-term care (LTC) environment.

Schedule:
- Part-Time, 16-24 hours per week
- Tuesdays & Thursdays, 7 AM 3 PM
Type: Contract (13+ weeks ongoing)
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise daily pharmacy operations as the PIC, ensuring compliance with all state and federal regulations specific to LTC mail order pharmacy.
- Lead and support pharmacy staff, including pharmacists and technicians, to maintain efficiency and accuracy in medication dispensing.
- Review, verify, and approve prescriptions and medication orders to guarantee safe and appropriate therapy for LTC patients.
- Oversee quality assurance programs, controlled substance compliance, policy adherence, and maintain thorough documentation standards.
- Collaborate closely with healthcare providers, facility staff, and nursing teams to optimize patient care and medication management.
- Support sterile compounding and clean room activities if experienced and comfortable in an IV/compounding environment.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Active Maryland Pharmacist License plus licenses in AL, AR, CA, LA, NE, OK, OR, and TX.
- Minimum 2 years of pharmacy management experience.
- At least 2 years of recent experience in long-term care or mail order pharmacy settings.
- Sterile compounding experience is a plus but not mandatory.
