A closed-door mail order pharmacy in Gaithersburg, MD, is seeking a multi-licensed Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) to join their dedicated team on a part-time basis. This role is perfect for a pharmacist with a background in long-term care pharmacy seeking to oversee daily operations in a collaborative environment. The pharmacy boasts a strong, supportive team of six technicians alongside experienced pharmacists and PICs, aiming to add another committed professional.

Position Details:

  • Contract: 13+ weeks ongoing
  • Hours: Part-Time, 16-24 hrs/week
  • Schedule: Tuesdays & Thursdays
  • Shift: 7:00 AM 3:00 PM
  • Location: Gaithersburg, MD

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily pharmacy operations as the PIC, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations specific to long-term care pharmacy.
  • Supervise pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, driving workflow efficiency and accuracy in medication dispensing.
  • Review, verify, and approve prescriptions to ensure safe and appropriate medication therapies for patients.
  • Maintain quality assurance programs, controlled substance management, and enforce documentation standards.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers and nursing staff to optimize patient care and medication management.
  • Provide support in sterile compounding and clean room operations if experienced and comfortable with IV/compounding protocols.

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

  • Active Maryland Pharmacist License plus licenses in AL, AR, CA, LA, NE, OK, OR, TX.
  • Minimum 2 years of pharmacy management experience.
  • At least 2 years of recent long-term care or mail order pharmacy experience required.
  • Sterile compounding experience highly desirable but not mandatory.
