Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) | Laurel, Maryland

A closed-door mail order pharmacy is seeking a multi-licensed Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) to join an established team of six pharmacy technicians, pharmacists, and PICs. This part-time contract role offers an ongoing opportunity to oversee pharmacy operations on Tuesdays and Thursdays in a busy, compliance-driven environment.

Responsibilities:

• Manage daily pharmacy operations as the PIC within a long-term care (LTC) pharmacy setting, ensuring adherence to all state and federal regulations.
• Supervise pharmacy staff, including pharmacists and technicians, to maintain workflow efficiency and ensure accuracy in medication dispensing.
• Review, verify, and approve prescriptions and medication orders to guarantee safe and effective therapy for LTC patients.
• Maintain quality assurance programs, controlled substance compliance, policy enforcement, and thorough documentation.
• Collaborate with facility personnel, healthcare providers, and nursing teams to support optimal patient care, medication management, and prompt medication delivery.
• Support sterile compounding and clean room operations, if experienced and comfortable with intravenous (IV) preparation.

Qualifications:

• Active Maryland Pharmacist License plus licenses in AL, AR, CA, LA, NE, OK, OR, TX.
• Minimum of 2 years pharmacy management experience.
• At least 2 years of recent long-term care or mail-order pharmacy experience.
• Experience with sterile compounding is preferred but not required.

Location: Laurel, MD / Work performed in Gaithersburg, MD mail order facility

Schedule & Hours:

• Part-time, 16-24 hours per week
• Tuesdays and Thursdays
• 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM shift
