Pharmacist in Charge in Rockville, MD

A closed-door mail order pharmacy in Maryland seeks a highly skilled Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) with multi-state licensure to support their growing team. This part-time role offers the opportunity to contribute to a well-established pharmacy environment focused on long-term care patients, with a dedicated staff of six pharmacy technicians and multiple pharmacists.

Position Details:

• Contract, 13+ weeks ongoing
• Part-Time, 16-24 hours per week
• Schedule: Tuesdays & Thursdays
• Shift: 7:00 AM 3:00 PM
• Location: Rockville, MD area (Gaithersburg, MD pharmacy)

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee daily pharmacy operations ensuring compliance with all state and federal laws as the PIC.
• Supervise and coordinate pharmacists and pharmacy technicians to maintain accuracy and efficiency in medication dispensing.
• Review, verify, and approve prescriptions to guarantee safe medication therapies for long-term care patients.
• Maintain quality assurance programs, compliance with controlled substances regulations, and documentation standards.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers and nursing staff to optimize patient medication management and delivery.
• Support sterile compounding operations and clean room duties if experienced and comfortable.

Qualifications:

• Active Pharmacist license in Maryland plus AL, AR, CA, LA, NE, OK, OR, TX.
• Minimum of 2 years in pharmacy management.
• At least 2 years recent experience in long-term care or mail order pharmacy.
• Sterile compounding experience is a plus, though not mandatory.
