A closed-door mail order pharmacy seeks a multi-licensed Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) to join an established team of pharmacists and technicians. This role supports long-term care pharmacy operations, providing leadership and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. Ideal candidates hold multiple active licenses including MD, and bring substantial experience in pharmacy management and long-term care pharmacy settings.

Position Details:

  • Contract assignment, minimum 13+ weeks, ongoing
  • Part-time schedule, 16-24 hours per week
  • Work days: Tuesdays & Thursdays
  • Shift hours: 7 AM to 3 PM

Location: Silver Spring, MD area (servicing Gaithersburg, MD pharmacy)

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee daily pharmacy operations as PIC, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations in a long-term care pharmacy setting.
  • Supervise pharmacists and technicians, manage workflow, and maintain accuracy in medication dispensing.
  • Review, verify, and approve prescriptions for appropriate and safe therapy specific to long-term care patients.
  • Maintain quality assurance, controlled substance compliance, policy enforcement, and documentation standards.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers and nursing staff to optimize medication management and timely delivery.
  • Optionally assist with sterile compounding and support clean room operations when experienced and comfortable with IV/compounding procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Active pharmacist licenses in Maryland plus AL, AR, CA, LA, NE, OK, OR, TX.
  • Minimum 2 years experience in pharmacy management.
  • Minimum 2 years recent pharmacy experience in long-term care or mail order setting.
  • Sterile compounding experience preferred but not required.
