Retail Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) - Spring, Texas
Lead the launch of a new specialty pharmacy as the Pharmacist-in-Charge in Lufkin, TX. This direct hire opportunity offers a hands-on leadership role in building out pharmacy operations from the ground up and shaping the patient experience for specialty care. You will be instrumental in managing regulatory compliance, overseeing daily functions, and collaborating closely with specialty clinics to optimize medication outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the designated Pharmacist-in-Charge, ensuring compliance with all state and federal laws, Board of Pharmacy regulations, and DEA standards
- Manage the build-out and opening of the new specialty pharmacy, including insurance contract onboarding and accreditation processes
- Oversee prescription dispensing, patient safety, inventory control, and quality assurance initiatives
- Lead and develop pharmacy staff through training and supervision
- Collaborate with providers and clinic teams to support coordinated care, formulary management, and medication access
- Address medication incidents, documentation, and continuous quality improvement efforts
- Participate in strategic planning for pharmacy growth and service expansion
- Utilize pharmacy software systems and specialty pharmacy knowledge to enhance workflows and patient support
Qualifications:
- Active, unrestricted PharmD license in Texas with eligibility to become PIC
- Prior experience as Pharmacist-in-Charge or Pharmacy Manager, specifically in outpatient/retail specialty pharmacy settings (inpatient candidates not considered)
- Proven leadership with strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a collaborative, patient-focused approach
- Proficiency with pharmacy and EMR software systems preferred (QS1, PioneerRx, EPIC, Therigy, etc.)
- Ability to manage specialty medication benefit investigations, prior authorizations, and appeals
