Retail Pharmacist - Lakewood, Ohio

A specialty retail pharmacy is seeking a knowledgeable and compassionate pharmacist to support complex patient care in Lakewood, OH. This contract opportunity focuses on serving a population requiring careful medication management, particularly those with chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, and multiple sclerosis. The role emphasizes strong patient consultation skills and experience in specialty retail pharmacy settings.

Schedule and Duration:

• Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM
• Starting November 19
• Duration of 4 to 6 weeks, or until a long-term solution is secured

Responsibilities:

• Provide expert medication counseling for patients taking multiple medications daily (8-15 medications)
• Communicate effectively and patiently with patients, many of whom have low literacy levels and are enrolled in Medicare/Medicaid programs
• Utilize thorough knowledge of the top 200-400 drugs commonly dispensed in retail pharmacies
• Use Pioneer Rx software for medication dispensing and record keeping

Qualifications:

• Licensed pharmacist with retail pharmacy experience; specialty retail experience highly preferred
• Demonstrated ability to counsel patients with complex chronic diseases with empathy and clarity
• Strong communication skills tailored to diverse patient populations, including low-income individuals with limited health literacy
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment requiring attention to detail and compassionate patient interactions
