Pediatric Hospital Pharmacist - Little Rock, AR
This direct hire opportunity is ideal for a licensed Arkansas pharmacist with pediatric inpatient experience, ready to contribute in a progressive, pediatric-focused hospital setting. The facility is a 359-bed trauma level 1 teaching hospital and one of the largest pediatric medical providers in the US. Key Responsibilities:
- Compound and dispense prescribed medications based on physicians instructions.
- Consult with medical staff regarding drug interactions, patient history, and medication use.
- Respond to patient inquiries related to medications and dosages.
- Maintain accurate pharmacy records in compliance with regulatory and hospital policies.
- Verify medication dosing appropriateness considering pediatric diagnoses, weight, age, and body surface area.
- Identify and intervene in drug therapy issues including allergies, interactions, and adverse reactions.
- Evaluate and recommend therapeutic alternatives, ensuring cost-effective drug therapy.
- Ensure all medications meet quality standards and are properly prepared and labeled.
- Efficiently process medication orders and manage inventory, including coordination with suppliers.
- Participate in clinical monitoring to optimize therapeutic outcomes and collaborate with healthcare providers.
- Engage in education and training of patients, pharmacy staff, and students.
- Provide accurate drug information and assist in drug utilization review activities.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Current Arkansas pharmacy license.
- Minimum of 2 years inpatient pharmacy experience, preferably in pediatrics.
- IV experience or IV certification is required.
- Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist (BCPS) preferred.
- Strong communication, clinical decision-making, and organizational skills.
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday, 8-hour day shifts from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm.
