Pediatric Hospital Pharmacist in Little Rock, AR

A 359-bed, Level 1 Trauma teaching hospital specializing in pediatric care is seeking a Pharmacist with hospital and pediatric experience for a contract-to-hire position. This state-of-the-art facility is one of the largest pediatric medical providers in the nation and the only dedicated pediatric medical center in Arkansas. The environment is fast-paced, team-oriented, and supportive, making it an excellent setting for professional growth.

Schedule:

• 7 days on, 7 days off (night shifts)
• 12-hour shifts: 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM (Thursday-Wednesday)
• Scheduling flexibility available

Key Responsibilities:

• Compound and dispense medications per physician orders accurately and efficiently
• Consult with medical staff regarding drug interactions, patient histories, and medication usage
• Educate patients on proper medication usage and dosage instructions
• Monitor appropriateness of doses based on pediatric patient factors such as age, weight, and diagnosis
• Identify and intervene in drug therapy issues including allergies and adverse reactions
• Evaluate and manage formulary and non-formulary drug needs
• Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and hospital procedures
• Assist with patient care, drug information, and drug utilization reviews
• Manage inventory, orders, and substitutions with wholesalers and manufacturers
• Participate in patient discharge planning and education for staff and students

Qualifications:

• Arkansas pharmacist license required
• Minimum 2 years inpatient hospital pharmacy experience preferred
• IV experience or IV certification highly regarded
• Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist (BCPS) preferred
• Strong knowledge of pediatric pharmacotherapy and hospital protocols
