An opportunity is available for a skilled pharmacist specializing in pediatric hospital care within a prominent 359-bed pediatric trauma and teaching hospital. This hospital ranks among the top ten largest pediatric medical centers nationally and stands as the only dedicated pediatric medical center in its state. Schedule/Hours:

  • 8-hour day shifts
  • Monday to Friday
  • 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM

Key Responsibilities:

  • Compound and dispense medications per physicians orders, ensuring accuracy in doses relative to patient diagnosis, weight, age, and body surface area
  • Collaborate with medical staff regarding drug interactions, patient history, and medication use
  • Address patient inquiries about medications and dosages
  • Maintain pharmacy records compliant with regulatory and hospital standards
  • Monitor drug therapies, identifying and resolving issues such as allergies, interactions, and adverse reactions
  • Evaluate non-formulary drug needs and recommend cost-effective alternatives
  • Ensure quality preparation, labeling, and handling of medications
  • Prioritize and efficiently process medication orders
  • Serve as a professional resource in patient care areas, monitor therapeutic outcomes, and provide recommendations
  • Participate in education and training initiatives for patients and healthcare team members
  • Conduct drug information services and assist with drug utilization reviews
  • Manage medication ordering processes including backorders and substitutions, coordinating communication with management
  • Assist with inventory management, recalls, and loan/borrow procedures

Desired Experience and Qualifications:

  • Arkansas pharmacist license
  • Minimum 2 years of inpatient pharmacy experience, preferably pediatric-focused
  • IV experience or IV certification required
  • Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist (BCPS) credential strongly preferred
