Travel Inpatient Pharmacist - Richfield Springs, NY

A rewarding opportunity is available for a New York-licensed inpatient pharmacist to serve in a travel contract role at a well-established healthcare network in Oneonta, New York. This position offers comprehensive exposure to inpatient hospital pharmacy operations within a collaborative and fully staffed pharmacy department. Location: Oneonta, New York
Employment Type: Travel Contract (13 weeks)
Schedule/Hours:

• Monday through Friday within department hours of 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM
• Shift options: 6:30 AM3:00 PM, 7:00 AM3:30 PM, 7:30 AM4:00 PM, 8:00 AM4:30 PM, or 8:30 AM5:00 PM
• No regular weekends or holidays; occasional every-third-weekend rotation possible
• On-call duty may be required 23 nights per week for experienced travelers

Key Responsibilities:

• Verify and dispense medication orders in an inpatient setting
• Provide oversight and supervision to pharmacy technicians, including sterile compounding
• Perform pharmacokinetic dosing (e.g., vancomycin, aminoglycosides)
• Support general inpatient pharmacy workflow and clinical pharmacy activities
• Adhere to USP 797 and 800 standards and ensure compliance with sterile compounding protocols
• Use electronic medical records (Epic) and automated dispensing systems (BD Pyxis) efficiently

Required Qualifications:

• Active New York State Pharmacist License (mandatory)
• Recent inpatient hospital pharmacy experience (retail or outpatient-only experience not accepted)
• Proficient in sterile compounding with hands-on experience in USP 797 and 800 compliance
• BS in Pharmacy or PharmD (PharmD preferred but not required)
• Ability to successfully complete on-site orientation and training prior to independent practice

Preferred Attributes:

• Familiarity with Epic and Pyxis systems
• Willingness to provide occasional coverage at a secondary hospital location nearby
• Adaptability and enthusiasm for living and working in a scenic small-city environment
