Hospital Oncology Pharmacist in Richmond, TX
A leading hospital within the Texas Medical Center is seeking an Oncology Inpatient Pharmacist to support its dynamic 500+ bed facility. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with interdisciplinary patient care teams, applying specialized pharmacy expertise to oncology treatment protocols in an inpatient setting. This position is a daytime schedule, ideal for pharmacists with a passion for oncology and inpatient care.
Location: Richmond, TX
Job Type: Contract, 13 weeks minimum with the possibility to transition to a permanent role
Schedule: Day shifts
Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in daily rounding with patient care teams to provide expert medication recommendations tailored to oncology patients
- Develop and update oncology treatment protocols using Epic and Epic Beacon systems
- Facilitate smooth transitions of oncology patients from inpatient to outpatient pharmacy care
- Manage non-formulary drug requests efficiently to ensure timely patient access to medications
- Coordinate specialty medication distribution and ensure adherence to hospital guidelines
Desired Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid Texas pharmacist license and Texas IV certification
- Minimum of 3 years of inpatient pharmacy experience, preferably with oncology focus
- Experience working with Epic pharmacy systems, including Beacon, is highly preferred
- Strong clinical judgment and collaborative communication skills to effectively engage with healthcare teams
