Pharmacist | Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania
A long-term care pharmacy is seeking a skilled pharmacist to provide part-time support on a contract basis. This role requires working approximately 24 hours per week within standard pharmacy hours, Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 6 PM, offering flexibility to support ongoing patient care needs in skilled nursing, personal care, and hospice settings.
Responsibilities include verifying medication orders entered by data entry technicians for multiple facility types, conducting thorough checks of blister-packed, sterile, and non-sterile medications, and accurately counting and documenting controlled substances in perpetual inventory. The pharmacist will also manage emergency medication boxes and respond promptly to clinical inquiries from nursing staff, hospice nurses, and physicians.
The role involves active communication via phone and requires strong attention to detail when reviewing orders and handling medications to ensure safety and compliance. Operating systems used include QS1, Docutrack, and PCC.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Pharmacy
- Active pharmacist license in good standing with the Pennsylvania State Board of Pharmacy
- Minimum of 1 year pharmacy experience; long-term care experience preferred
- Ability to perform duties involving sitting, standing, and manual dexterity
- Visual acuity for reading prescriptions and medication labels
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
