Hospital Pharmacist - State College, Pennsylvania
This position offers the opportunity to work as a Staff Pharmacist in a dynamic hospital setting where you can build clinical expertise in both inpatient and ambulatory care roles. Unlike larger facilities that often limit pharmacists to one specialty, this role provides the flexibility to develop skills across multiple areas of pharmacy practice with strong support from the Director of Pharmacy.
Location: Situated in State College, PA, a vibrant college town known for its beautiful surroundings and home to Penn State University. Relocation assistance may be available.
Responsibilities:
- Accurately enter, review, and dispense medication orders for patients.
- Provide timely and accurate drug information and clinical monitoring.
- Document medication monitoring and evaluations in the pharmacy computer system.
- Oversee sterile compounding operations, ensuring aseptic technique and accuracy.
- Prepare high-risk medications including narcotic infusions and cytotoxic chemotherapy drugs.
- Perform drug therapy monitoring and pharmacist-managed consults according to protocols.
- In the ambulatory care role, facilitate and document drug therapy decisions through recommendations or collaborative practice agreements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (BS) or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree.
- Completion of PGY-1 residency or a minimum of three years of current clinical pharmacy experience.
- Licensed as a Pharmacist in Pennsylvania or eligible to obtain licensure.
- Experience with Meditech healthcare information system preferred.
Schedule:
- Primarily day shifts, 8-hour shifts with some variability into afternoons.
