Outpatient Pharmacist - Van Nuys, California

A well-established health system is seeking a skilled outpatient pharmacist for their hospital outpatient clinic in Sylmar, CA. This opportunity is ideal for pharmacists with retail experience looking to transition into a hospital outpatient setting within a reputable county health system.

The Los Angeles County Department of Health System (LACDHS) comprises numerous outpatient clinics and hospitals, providing a dynamic ambulatory care environment. Pharmacists are hired on a long-term contract basis with the possibility to transition into permanent county positions. Candidates with a PGY-1 residency or approximately two years of recent inpatient experience are preferred, reflecting the clinical rigor and expectations of this role.

Location: Sylmar, CA (Los Angeles County)

Schedule:

• 8-hour shifts
• Primarily first and second shifts
• Occasional third shifts required
• Flexibility to work various shifts is necessary

Key Responsibilities:

• Accurately dispense medications in an outpatient hospital environment
• Counsel patients on proper medication use and safety
• Collaborate with healthcare providers to optimize therapeutic outcomes
• Comply with regulatory, safety, and competency standards
• Successfully complete a competency exam and pass a Livescan background check

Desired Qualifications:

• Licensed pharmacist with active credentials
• PGY-1 residency completion or around two years of recent inpatient pharmacy experience strongly preferred
• Ability to adapt to a fast-paced outpatient clinical setting
