Position Overview
We are seeking a Sterile Compounding Pharmacist to join a specialty compounding pharmacy focused on providing bespoke pharmaceutical preparations tailored to individual patient needs.
The Pharmacist will work across both sterile and non-sterile production areas to ensure medications are prepared accurately, safely, and in compliance with applicable state and federal regulations.
This position will also provide support to prescription dispensing and pharmacy operations as needed, while assisting patients with counseling related to compounded, prescription, and over-the-counter medications.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and verify compounded sterile and non-sterile medications according to master formula worksheets and established procedures.
- Follow all applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), pharmacy policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain compliance with USP <795>, USP <797>, and USP <800> standards applicable to non-sterile and sterile compounding.
- Perform proper cleaning, garbing, and environmental preparation according to established policies.
- Utilize appropriate aseptic techniques throughout the sterile compounding process.
- Perform pharmaceutical calculations and complete all required documentation accurately.
- Operate compounding and production equipment safely and accurately in accordance with established procedures.
- Prepare and organize work areas prior to production.
- Operate and monitor technical and computerized equipment while maintaining required quality standards.
- Ensure the quality, purity, potency, and accuracy of compounded medications.
- Perform quality control testing and inspections to verify compounded preparations meet established standards.
- Provide support to prescription dispensing personnel and pharmacy operations as needed.
- Provide appropriate patient counseling regarding compounded medications, prescriptions, and OTC products.
- Stay current with developments in compounding techniques, formulations, technologies, and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in ongoing professional development related to compounding pharmacy practices.
Schedule
The standard schedule is MondayFriday, with multiple shifts:
- 8:00 AM4:30 PM
- 9:00 AM5:30 PM
- 10:30 AM7:00 PM
Candidates may indicate their preferred shift, but shift preference is not guaranteed and will depend on the facility's scheduling needs.
Requirements
- Active Pennsylvania Pharmacist license
- Recent pharmacy experience
- Sterile compounding experience required
- Strong understanding of aseptic technique and sterile compounding practices
- Knowledge of USP <795>, <797>, and <800> standards preferred
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety
- Ability to accurately perform pharmaceutical calculations and documentation
- Reliable attendance and punctuality
