Inpatient Supervising Pharmacy Manager - Kansas City, Kansas
A pharmacy leadership role is available in a 48-bed rehabilitation hospital setting where you will serve as the Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) while providing hands-on pharmacy staffing. This opportunity involves managing day-to-day pharmacy operations and ensuring exceptional medication safety and patient care. Scheduled pharmacy hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with potential for weekend, after-hours, or on-call coverage. The contract duration starts at 8+ weeks and may be extended.

Schedule:

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct patient care by participating in rounds, monitoring therapies, adjusting dosing (e.g., antibiotics), reviewing labs, and offering clinical recommendations.
- Review medication orders entered by physicians and healthcare providers.
- Prepare and dispense hospital medications, including IV medication preparation and sterile compounding.
- Oversee pharmacy staff consisting of 1 full-time pharmacist and 2 technicians (full-time and PRN), managing 1 technician per shift.
- Ensure medication safety by verifying correct doses, identifying drug interactions, assessing allergies, and confirming appropriate therapy.
- Hold PIC responsibilities, including pharmacy staffing and administration.
- Collaborate with a substantial PRN pharmacist pool rotating on-call duties.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Licensed pharmacist in Kansas
- IV compounding experience (note: chemotherapy compounding not required)
- Previous hospital inpatient pharmacy or pharmacy manager experience preferred
- Ability to provide pharmacy oversight and lead pharmacy staff effectively
