Inpatient Supervising Pharmacy Manager - Sparks, Nevada
A specialty post-acute hospital pharmacy is seeking an experienced Pharmacy Manager for an 8+ week contract assignment. This role offers the opportunity to lead pharmacy operations in a 25-bed inpatient setting with an average daily census of 23 patients. The pharmacy operates weekdays from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, with required weekend, after-hours, and on-call coverage to ensure continuous support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and verify medication orders, ensuring safe and effective dosing while identifying potential drug interactions.
- Oversee medication distribution across patient care units, including medication carts, automated dispensing cabinets, and emergency supplies.
- Supervise pharmacy staff, including scheduling and training technicians and pharmacists.
- Manage medication inventory, including ordering, stock monitoring, controlled substance management, and waste reduction.
- Maintain adherence to medication-use policies and participate in patient safety initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with state and federal pharmacy regulations, as well as hospital policies and accreditation standards.
- Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient care.
Qualifications/Desired Experience:
- Valid Nevada Pharmacy License, clear and active.
- Significant pharmacy management experience in a hospital inpatient setting.
- Proficiency with IV compounding procedures is required.
- Familiarity with Wellsky pharmacy information system and Pyxis automation preferred.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience managing staff and pharmacy operations efficiently in a small-team environment.
Schedule:
- Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm
- On-call coverage for weekends and after-hours required
