Inpatient Pharmacy Manager in Verdi, NV
An opportunity is available for an experienced Pharmacy Manager to lead operations at a post-acute specialty hospital with 25 staffed beds and an average daily census of 23 patients. This contract role is based in Verdi, NV, for a duration of 8+ weeks.
This facilitys pharmacy operates Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, and requires weekend, after-hours, and on-call coverage. The pharmacy team includes one technician and no full-time pharmacists, with PRN resources supporting where needed. After-hours services are backed by a remote order entry system and on-call pharmacist support. The hospital utilizes Wellsky as its pharmacy information system and Pyxis for automation.
Responsibilities include:
- Reviewing and verifying medication orders while ensuring accurate dosing and monitoring for drug interactions.
- Managing pharmacy operations such as medication distribution via carts, automated dispensing cabinets, and emergency supplies.
- Supervising and training pharmacy staff, including scheduling and performance management.
- Overseeing inventory control, ordering medications, monitoring stock levels, managing controlled substances, and minimizing waste.
- Ensuring adherence to medication-use policies and engaging in medication safety initiatives.
- Maintaining compliance with state and federal regulations, hospital policies, and accreditation standards.
- Collaborating with multidisciplinary healthcare teams including physicians and nurses to optimize patient care.
Required qualifications and experience:
- Active and clear Nevada Pharmacy License.
- Proven experience in IV compounding.
- Strong leadership skills in a hospital or inpatient pharmacy setting.
- Familiarity with pharmacy information systems and automation technology.
